Founded in 2012, our academic research network connects scholars studying the impact of occupational licensing on workers, consumers, and the economy. Our members are committed to advancing our knowledge of this complex and important issue.
President
Dr. Darwyyn Deyo
Dr. Deyo has published on the impact of occupational licensing on consumer outcomes, as well as on health economics and criminal justice. She is an Associate Professor of Economics at San Jose State University and a Senior Research Fellow with the Knee Regulatory Research Center at WVU.
Vice President
Dr. Tingting Zhang
Dr. Zhang is a leading expert in labor market regulation and industrial and employment relations. She has published in top journals on labor movements and unionization and is the leading expert on Canadian occupational licensing. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Treasurer
Dr. Edward J. Timmons
Dr. Timmons has published several journal articles on licensing, as well as over 100 op-eds, policy pieces, and state testimonies. He is also the founding and current director of the Knee Regulatory Research Center at WVU.
Founder
Dr. Morris Kleiner
Dr. Kleiner is the leading expert on occupational licensing and labor market regulation. He has published extensively in the top academic journals in labor economics and industrial relations, and is the author, co-author, or co-editor of nine books. He is a Professor in the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
